Wildlife Friendly Infrastructure in Asia: Safeguarding Whole Ecosystems Amid Rapid Development
Monday, 13 October 2025
14:00–14:45 (Abu Dhabi time)
Asia Pavilion

In 2020, IUCN members approved Resolution WCC-2020-Res-071 on Wildlife-friendly linear infrastructure to tackle the impacts of infrastructure on ecosystems, connectivity, and biodiversity. Four years on, where do we stand?

This session will:

  • Take stock of progress made since the resolution.

  • Examine barriers and challenges to implementation.

  • Explore opportunities for integrating wildlife-friendly approaches across sectors in Asia, including finance, insurance, engineering, government, and academia.

A diverse panel and participants will share perspectives on how to support biodiversity gains while prioritizing inclusive, nature-based, and zero-carbon infrastructure development.
