The Federal Highway Administration has announced approximately $80 million in funding through the Fiscal Year 2026 Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program (WCPP).
The program supports projects aimed at reducing wildlife–vehicle collisions, improving road safety, and enhancing habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species.
Funding is available for eligible construction and non-construction projects. Eligible applicants include state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, local governments, Tribal governments, federal land management agencies, and other eligible transportation authorities.
A 20% non-federal funding match is generally required, unless an exception applies.
Applications close on November 16, 2026.
