Roadkill study demonstrates urgent necessity for safeguards

Researchers surveyed a 50-km stretch of road in Kerala’s Western Ghats over a year and recorded 330 roadkill incidents across 72 species, with reptiles and amphibians suffering the highest mortality. The findings highlight how altered landscapes intensify risks for vulnerable species and stress the need for species-specific mitigation strategies in road planning.
